Breakfast Table

Good morning and happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a casual little brunch table with you.

Since I had no pretty flowers and didn't want candles or anything cluttered for this brunch, I opted for a very functional centrepiece - a simple coffee pot, a pitcher of water, and milk and sugar (the coffee pot, creamer and sugar bowl were gifts from our friends Jenn an Carlin. The pitcher is by Godinger and matches the china so well. It was $6.99 at TJ Maxx).
They are set atop an old silverplate tray found at a New York thrift shop for $10.

The lace tablecloth (found at a garage sale for $2) and white china (one of the patterns we chose when we got married, Hutchenreuther's Baronesse White) are the base of the design, but I added some colourful pops to keep it from feeling too stuffy.

For instance, I incorporated these four parrot plates (purchased on clearance at Pottery Barn 3 years ago).
Each one is different. Here are a couple of them:

The salad plates are by Martha Stewart, found at TJ Maxx. The blue chargers were bought about nine years ago at Rob McIntosh for $2 each. The blue crystal bowls are Boston by Villeroy & Boch (a wedding gift from our friend Emily). The napkins are the Provence pattern from Williams-Sonoma (a gift from our friend Katie). Water glasses are Riedel "Ouverture," and flatware is our wedding silverplate set, Arthur Price "Melrose."

And the last little details are the teaspoons, found recently at Home Sense (4 for $9.99). Again, each one is different so every place setting at this table is unique in a few ways.
You can see our little Hutschenreuther teacups, wedding gifts, up close here, too.

And finally, to get that pop of blue to match the colours atop the table, I layered my lace on top of a blue damask tablecloth.

I love that so many of our cherished dinnerware and other entertaining items were gifts from loved ones. Setting the table always reminds us of the friend who gave us each item, and makes us think about our wedding and how lucky we are.

Thanks for visiting!
Jenny
